Sometimes it can feel difficult to keep up with your dental health. Here are some easy ways you can improve your oral health!
Fine-Tune Your Brushing Habits
You’re probably already brushing your teeth, but ensuring you’re doing it properly will help keep your mouth as healthy as possible. If you don’t brush twice a day, now is the time to start! Some people make the mistake of only brushing their teeth in the morning to get rid of bad morning breath, but brushing your teeth at night is essential to remove a whole day’s worth of food particles & bacteria.
Additionally, when you’re brushing, it’s important to be gentle. Brushing too hard can hurt your teeth in the long run by damaging your enamel & can even contribute to gum recession.
If you’re looking to upgrade your brushing habits even more, consider what kind of toothpaste you’re using. Toothpaste with fluoride will help strengthen your teeth to keep them even healthier!
Floss!
If you don’t already floss, you should start right away! Flossing is an important tool for cleaning your teeth & keeping your gums & mouth healthy. It reaches areas of your teeth that a toothbrush can’t effectively clean, which is why it’s important to floss in addition to brushing your teeth.
To ensure your flossing is as effective as possible, use string floss or a water flosser instead of a floss pick. Floss picks won’t clean your teeth as well as string floss or water flossers, & can even contribute to the spread of bacteria throughout your mouth.
See Your Dentist Regularly
Visiting your dentist every six months is a simple way to maintain your oral health. Your dentist can clean your teeth more effectively than even your daily brushing & flossing, & will also be able to address any potential problems before they become expensive or painful.
